A Type O mortar is 1 part Portland, 2 parts Lime and 9 parts sand or other aggregate (1:2:9). Straight lime mortar has no Portland, and 1 part Lime to 3 parts sand or other aggregate. WebType N mortar has a medium level of compressive strength. This kind of mortar is normally made out of a combination of portland cement, lime, sand, and other additives that are frequently added to improve its workability and bond strength. Out of all the different varieties of mortar, the weakest and most flexible one is type O mortar.
