WebOct 9, 2006 · I believe USS Iowa (or NJ not sure) straddled a japanese destroyer on the very first salvo at 35,000 yards. It took Bismarck 3 salvoes to do that at DS at much closer range. I see no reason to think an Iowa class ship would do worse.
